Yolanda Lawson has dedicated over 20 years to serving the City of Birmingham, Alabama, in various capacities to include Principal Attorney, Senior Attorney, Manager of Tax Collections, and Senior Auditor. In these positions, she has managed teams responsible for administering and collecting municipal tax revenue, averaging over $450 million annually. Her extensive experience in municipal government has equipped her with a deep understanding of public administration and finance, which she aims to bring to her role as mayor of Pleasant Grove.
Yolanda Lawson, a current City Councilor of Pleasant Grove, AL, is a leader in the fight to maintain and improve property values while enhancing community growth. She chairs the Risk Management Committee and the Beautification Board, serving on the Finance and Public Safety Committees. Her leadership has driven city clean-up efforts, secured school funding, strengthened public safety, and prioritized infrastructure and economic growth. Committed to a thriving Pleasant Grove, she continues to advocate for residents and positive change.
Yolanda Lawson has over 35 years of experience in accounting and finance, including 15 years as an attorney and 20 years as an Alabama Local Tax Institute of Standards and Training (ALTIST) Board Certified Revenue Examiner. In her role as a municipal tax attorney, she has managed teams responsible for collecting an average of $1.5 million annually in municipal taxes. Her extensive experience in municipal government has equipped her with a deep understanding of public administration and finance, which she aims to bring to her role as mayor of Pleasant Grove.
As a dedicated resident of Pleasant Grove for over 25 years, I have served our community as a City Council member, actively listening to your concerns and recognizing opportunities for growth and revitalization.
